This is a website with free children's books in different languages. Try using it to practise reading as the books are a good level. . It has books in French, Spanish and German as well as a few others.
French Top Tips
French Possibly start the paper backwards if the questions get progressively more difficult as the paper progresses; that way you are fresh and ready to tackle the questions that have more marks.
